This Popular Plant-Based Milk Is Part of a Massive FDA Recall

Of all the plant-based milks out there (almond, coconut, soy, the list goes on and on), oat milk is by far the best of the bunch due to its superiorly creamy texture, generally non-cardboard taste, and ability to froth well for an espresso-based sip. Though I’m generally a whole milk drinker, I’ll occasionally order an oat milk latte or stock up on a carton of the stuff when I feel like I need a little break from traditional dairy.

So the latest FDA recall alert absolutely caught my attention, considering it involves my (and seemingly everyone else’s) favorite oat milk company, coffee, and a slew of other plant-based and nutritional beverages. Yep, your beloved Oatly oat milk is part of a massive voluntary recall from Lyons Magnus LLC of 53 products with potential microbial contamination—including from the organism Cronobacter sakazakii, which can cause fever, vomiting, and urinary tract infection.
